10 Guidelines To Entering A Guest Pulpit

When Entering A Guest Pulpit:
1. First shake the Pastor's hand or the person who is sitting in the CENTER SEAT.
2. Speak and acknowledge EVERYONE in the pulpit-from right to left or left to right.
3. Kneel, bow or what is comfortable in turning your back to the audience and pray before seating.
4. Study the Bulletin carefully; make sure you know where you will be entering the service. Note the names of the leaders; if you are the guest preacher take notice the references for the sermonic.
5. If you have been invited into the pulpit as a curtious acknowledgement to clergy and not for a specific ministry...get your self together and pray to address a spontaneous Word, Prayer or Greeting. Be ready to speak.
6. While seated and waiting GET PREPARED-use the waiting time wise! Always be prepared to open Worship with Invocation, Call To Worship Scriptures or Beneditions.
7. Follow the actions of the person seated in the center or watch for non verbal prompts from the Pastor. Such as standing for scripture readings. When you don't know what to do watch and follow pulpit decor from the Pastor.
8. Wear clothes and robes THAT FIT and are NOT TOO SHORT (Women In Ministry)! You are Ministers standing in His Presence and BEFORE the people of God!
9. Know the Christian Calendar and the Seasons of the Church so you are aware of the propers colors and scriptures which are appropriate for administering.
10. Keep your favorite sermon, notes or scriptures in you Bible. You might be called upon to preach spontaneously; I have a sermon on your heart all of the time.
Tips:
~Keep pasted in the cover of your Bible a favorite: Words/Hymn; Scripture Readings and Beneditions.
~ALL OF PAUL's CLOSING SALUTATIONS IN THE EPISTLES ARE BENEDITIONS...so if ever called upon to give a benedition and you don't ahve one memorized....go to the end of any of the letters of Paul and use his closing salution.
~Never ASSume that you will be invited into a pulpit just because you are invited clergy. Be always prepared to give UP your seat to senior clergy who enters a pulpit! Giving up your seat to another GOES ALONG WAY-FOLKS ARE WATCHING! (As senior clergy, if the pulpit is full when I enter a service, I pay close attention to who has the HEART to release their seat to me! It is VALUABLE INFORMATION!)
~Learn to observe and watch your surroundings from the pulpit; the gift of discernment from the pulpit view can be quite revealing and puts you in a place of fully being prepare to minister unexpectedly!
~If called upon to exhort and you are not prepared THIS ALWAYS WORKS: Find and use the scriptures where in your were saved and PREACH your testimony! IT ALWAYS WORKS! ALWAYS!
ADVISIORY NOTICE: Control yourself in the pulpit! Preachers who preach themselves HAPPY show their immaturity to the Ministry. Especially, Women In Ministry start shouting insanely as if to show they have a double portion of Holy Ghost above the rest!
We know "you got" the Holy Ghost that's why you are up front! Up front means you are in charge...if you fall out, the service is "Home Alone!" Get a GRIP and KEEP IT when you are UP FRONT BEFORE the people!
YOU are the leader in charge...SO STAY AHEAD OF THE GAME AND DON'T FALL OUT! Cool and calm actually exhibits your STRENGTH and HOW MUCH ANOINTING YOU CAN CARRY! The spirit is subject to the Prophet...you DON'T HAVE TO FALL OUT UNLESS YOU WANT TO!

As Christians, we can feel dull and "blue" from time to time. Here is my simple prescription for fighting depression. When prayer seems not to be working and hope feels like it is fading, don't give up!
There is yet another prescription for depression when nothing else works! There ARE things you can do to come against feeling depressed.
Follow these simple steps and "Put On A Happy Face!"
1.) Read the Book of Psalms.
Did you know EVERY human emotion is identified in the Book of Psalms?!
This IMPORTANT KEY is very simple and WILL open the door of relief to your spirit! When feeling blue, thumb through the Psalms and FIND THE EXACT PSALM WHICH SPEAKS TO EXACTLY HOW YOU FEEL! Don't stop reading until you find the exact Psalm which describes HOW YOU FEEL!
When you identify this Psalm...it will let you know that you AREN'T CRAZY! David wrote most of the Psalms and knows EXACTLY HOW you feel! Relate to him and his words...they speak exactly to where you are! This discovery lets you know that you are not alone in your situation. they bring comfort!
Speak the Psalms to YOURSELF and find relief! Rehearsing the Promises of God brings confidences that God is REAL and that the Word WORKS! BELIEVE the Word you CONFESS continually!
Ephesians 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
2 Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
